Night Terror - Ian Peters
I awoke this morning after what I could only describe as an eternity of terror. It began in a forgotten time where vikings were trying to kill us from afar by shooting long arrows through the sky. After a number of attempts on our group, I made a daring escape by running through a field followed by some trees. I saw a building and as I rounded the corner of it, I noticed a bridge with some fishermen. As I scrambled up an embankment, I soon realized that I had in fact been transported to a present time, one which I was more familiar with. A short time later some familiar faces from the old world came up to me. The next few moments were a blur, but suddenly there were those familiar arrows raining down on us. How did they find us? I was told that they could see us from the other world. We started running, back down the embankment. We found a culvert that we immediately saw as our escape from this terrible onslaught. It was as beautiful as it was claustrophobic. We crawled inside, one by one, end to end. Two of our friends were just about to crawl in, when they were viciously grabbed and taken away by the vikings. My only fear was that they wouldn't give up our hiding place. As time went on, we lay there, silent. Eventually it was decided that we needed to keep moving. As we walked away from our short lived safety from the arrows, which were constantly falling from the sky, we looked up and witnessed a passenger jet plane coming in for a landing. Something was wrong though, and I could immediately tell that it wasn't going to land. We stood there as we watched the immense metal bird hit the ground in a glorious fireball. We continued our journey and soon found ourselves inside a dark house. Part of my family was there. Somehow we witnessed their abduction, but as soon as it began, it was over. They seemed exhausted and told us that the vikings knew we were there and that we needed to give ourselves up. There was a viking outside one of the windows. He tried climbing in but fortunately my friend was well versed in the art of killing. I was happy to see that pick axe go into the viking's back. My friend and I ran down a hallway and proceeded to exit the building we were in. We moved stealthily, so as not to draw attention to our escape. I looked back, and I noticed that another viking had probably crawled in through the window, the evidence being that he came out of the room we were in and started coming down the hallway after us. We went outside and made our way down the steep, narrow stairwell. We waited at the bottom, against the wall. I looked up and saw some windows. I feared that the viking would see us through the windows, and I was skeptical on our ability to dodge anything that he would be sure to throw down at us. We waited for only a moment, when we could hear someone coming down the stairs. We waited in anticipation, my friend ready for whatever would come around the corner. The footsteps were slow. Our hearts were racing. All I remember next was seeing the face of a viking. My friend was nowhere to be seen, and I curled up on the dirt ground ready to die. My eyes were closed tightly, and when I opened them I was lying in my bed.
